PhotoCraft for Windows: Download and Installation Guide

Choose the right upstream package, then install it or use the portable folder. This is an independent guide; the application comes from the upstream project.

These packages are for a Windows computer. A system hint identifies the visiting device, not the target computer’s processor; choose using that computer’s System type.

Windows: Standalone Package or ArtCraft Launcher?

For only PhotoCraft, choose this page’s MSI or portable ZIP. To manage several Craft apps, examine the official Launcher: upstream documents selecting the release files for your system and processor and offering updates. Launcher is not the PhotoCraft MSI or this website’s editor.

  1. Open the official Launcher release, read its notes and choose a matching Windows package.
  2. Follow that release’s verification and installation instructions; do not use a PhotoCraft hash to verify Launcher.
  3. Select PhotoCraft in Launcher, inspect the displayed version, then follow its specific install or update prompt.
  4. Launch PhotoCraft and check opening, saving and exporting a project copy.

This overview follows official documentation; we have not tested Launcher installation or updates. If you installed a standalone package, consult Launcher’s installed-app detection notes before removing anything. Back up work and needed settings before updating.

Check Your Windows System and Processor Architecture

Press Windows + I, open Settings → System → About and read System type. Choose from that information rather than assuming the default x64 option fits your PC.

Scroll horizontally to see every column, or focus the table region and use the arrow keys.

System type and matching download

64-bit Windows on an Intel / AMD x64 processorx64Check both the operating-system type and processor.
An ARM PC, such as Snapdragonarm64Use the upstream ARM64 asset rather than treating x64 as a native ARM build.
32-bit Windowsx86Select x86 and check upstream runtime requirements.

A matching version and architecture do not guarantee that every computer will run the app. Graphics drivers, system environment and the document still matter.

PhotoCraft Windows Downloads: MSI or Portable ZIP

Use MSI for an installed application or the portable ZIP to run from an extracted folder. Both come from the same checked upstream release; we do not repackage the application.

Install PhotoCraft with the MSI

  1. Download the MSI matching your system type and follow the checksum steps.
  2. Double-click the MSI in Explorer. Upstream packaging defines an install-folder screen, confirmation, progress and finish screens, with PhotoCraft under Program Files by default.
  3. Review the folder and prompts. Complete the system confirmation if you intend to install this package.
  4. Open PhotoCraft from Start, choose File → Open and use a practice image to check the canvas, then inspect an exported result.

A working app window and sample image are the success check; an installer completion message alone is insufficient. Wizard details come from upstream packaging at the release tag. We did not run an MSI installation acceptance test.

Run the Portable ZIP without an MSI Installation

  1. Choose the file containing windows, your architecture and portable.zip. GitHub Source code ZIP and the Web ZIP are different packages.
  2. Right-click the ZIP in Downloads → Extract All. Extract the complete folder somewhere writable; do not run the app inside the archive.
  3. Open the extracted subfolder and run photocraft.exe. Keep portable.txt and the other files beside it.
  4. Open a practice image with File → Open, export to a separate file and reopen the result.

Upstream portable.txt says portable preferences, brush presets and recovery files use PhotoCraftData beside the executable. Upstream notes that a read-only application folder can fall back to %APPDATA%\Photocraft. Confirm the data location and preserve the whole folder when moving or updating. Recovery files do not replace saved work.

Updates, Removal and Keeping Your Work

Before updating, save originals, editable documents and exports in a separate work folder and back them up. Check the latest release, match your system and architecture again, and verify its checksum. This page pins checked v0.7.0 files; it does not update your installation automatically.

For an MSI installation, Windows 11 uses Settings → Apps → Installed apps → PhotoCraft → Uninstall; Windows 10 uses Apps & features. If that route is unavailable, consult Microsoft’s removal instructions. Do not assume uninstalling backs up work or preserves all settings.

Close a portable copy before moving its full folder. Back up work and any needed PhotoCraftData separately before removing it. Extract an update into a different folder and check it before replacing your only copy.

Sources and What We Verified

On October 11, 2026 we checked official release assets and SHA256SUMS. The downloaded Windows x64 portable ZIP matched its hash. Its bundled CLI completed a 640 × 400 practice PNG → PSD → PNG conversion on Windows 11 x64. This does not test desktop GUI startup, MSI installation, ARM64/x86 execution or complex PSDs.

PhotoCraft Windows FAQ

Is the Windows download paid?

These links point to upstream open-source releases with no download purchase on this site. See the source guide for licenses.

Can I select x64 without checking?

Read System type first. A default selection cannot confirm your architecture.

Can these files run on a phone?

They are Windows desktop packages, not Android APKs or iOS apps.

Does a failed save always mean a bad installation?

No. Format, permissions, fonts and effects may need separate checks. Keep your original and inspect the actual message.
